And though we now pass
like ghosts in daylight,
I will not beg
to be remembered
by someone who forgets
so easily.

We are strangers now—
but I am no longer
a stranger to myself.

    Those who find themselves no longer need witnesses.

    What was real did not vanish…only the obligation to carry it forward did.
